This looks like a great facility, however the comparison diagram of the space required for 150 cars (45,000 squ ft vs bikes 1,000 squ ft) doesn’t seem to be to scale; the car space must be 45 x larger than the bike parking area, but the diagram only makes it look about 10-12 x larger.

Generally I like the form, but it’s realy uncomftable to live here, I think the wind, the noise (aspecilly from the playground) the lack of sun light in some big areas, and the feel of fortress realy is not good.

    Dear Erick van Egeraat,
you’ve drawed so many buildings for Russia, it seems like you’ve got a very good friend there :) ))
But one thing you’ve never managed in Russia – is to get attracted to place. And if you aren’t attracted to lady – don’t date with her! If you aren’t attracted to some place – don’t build anything for it, cause you’d only make it worse.
Most of your buildings, like this one here, just don’t fit to places where you built them. Surgut might be situated in a rich region of Siberea, but it is not a city!! and this trade center looks really weird amongst small old grey soviet multistoried houses, in the middle of snowy muddy Siberea for people that rather need somthing more cosy in cold Siberean days. You might be glad that you had this projects in Siberea, and you got paid well (hopefully), but local people would hardly appreciate your designs.

  14. Huba says:

    It’s ugly. Seriously

  15. Cowboy Tim says:

I’m sorry, but I find this building to be a pimple on Chicago’s beautiful skyline. I’ve looked at it from every photographed angle, and I just cannot bring myself to get onboard with it. It’s just too “off-looking”, and not in a positive manner.

Not sure about the dichotomy idea, but surprisingly the store looks very comfortable and warm with that much of concrete. Super chic ice cream store! Are they Polish? Is the store in Krakow too?
